The Miami fleet is one of the top Snipe fleets in the world.  Sailors of all levels and ages participate in local events, national, and international championships.  Most fleet members sail from the US Sailing Center, but some teams also launch from Coral Reef Yacht Club and Biscayne Bay Yacht Club.  Formal and informal practices are organized weekly through the fleet Whats App group.  The fleet sails on Biscayne Bay in Miami and also in Fort Lauderdale.  The fleet has boats available for sailors wishing to try the Class and also a rent - to - own program primarily aimed at younger sailors.

THE SNIPE IN THE PAN AMERICAN GAMES

The Snipe has been the double-handed class in the Pan American Games since the first Games in 1951.  The Games are organized by the International Olympic Committee and held every four years, the year before the Olympics.  Countries participation is limited and countries must qualify at regional and international events, then each country has their own selection process.  Miami sailors shave earned multiple medals at the Games and in recemt years, the fleet has been represented at the Games by Augie Diaz, Ernesto Rodriguez, Kathleen Tocke, Peter Commette, and Tracy Haley Smith.
