CHARTERS

All teams should verify the arrival date of their charter boats.

Be sure that your charter has shrouds that have Sta-masters.  If they cannot be provided, arrange to bring your own.

Verify if your boat comes with a Tactic compass and/or compass mount.

Snipes are complicated boats to charter.   Teams will need several days  to get their boats set-up and tuned properly.  Rigging and placement of control lines may need to be changed.

See the link below for the list of tools and supplies that you will want to bring to the Championship from the US.

Be courteous and return your charter boat with everything in place as you received it.  Remove Sharpie markings, remove bow and sponsor stickers, put lines back into place if you changed positions.

The city is divided by the Douro River.  Porto has an efficient bus and metro/light rail system throughout much of the city.

The Junior Worlds venue is located near the beaches and port area of Leça da Palmeira on the north coast of the city. The Praia de Leça bus stop is a 4 minute walk from the club.  It is 30 minutes walking from the bridge & the Metro stop in Matosinhos area.

BRING WARM SAILING GEAR

You are racing on the northern Atlantic, the water is only 64'F in August.  Be sure to pack some warm sailing gear and summer gear. Hiking pants and or neoprene pants/shorts will help you hike better and stay warmer.  It's always colder up front for crews.  Do not expect to find Atlas glove in Europe, bring your own if you use them.  All sailors are encouraged to bring boots if you wear them or not.  Have them on hand for cold & breezy conditions.
