The Miami Fleet is excited to welcome Snipe sailors to South Florida for 2022 Winter Season. Plan your flights, housing, & boat transportation/storage early to take advantage of pre-season lower prices.
There are options to store your boat at the US Sailing Center for the season. Check with the facility Director, Pat Downey for pricing. There are discounts for seasonal storage (around $130 per month), otherwise it is $20 per day per boat. MSI and Women's Invite boat storage at the Sailing Center is free on race/clinic days only.
The Winter season with start with the Miami Snipe Invite (MSI) for the around and under 30 crowd. The event is one week later this year, January 7 - 9, so that it does not coincide with New Years and the Team Race Midwinters. Participation in the Friday Clinic is required of all skippers who do not have prior Snipe experience and are borrowing a boat. SCIRA borrowed boat insurance is MANDATORY for all teams borrowing boats from anyone.
Coconut Grove Sailing Club welcomes sailors once again for the Comodoro Rasco, January 29 - 30, and again for the Don Q, held April 7 - 9. We expect a contingent of international entries for this year's Don Q and have a tentative two-day clinic/regatta planned for the Tuesday & Wednesday before the Don Q in Miami. Peter Commette is also looking into the possibility of hosting a one-day Ron Payne Ocean Race in Fort Lauderdale the Sunday before the Don Q, to make a compact Spring circuit.
The Women's Invite will be held again in 2022, as well as some training camps for the Junior Teams planning to attend the 2022 Junior World Championship in Portugal in July of 2022. Juniors are teams with both the skipper and crew under the age of 22 in 2022.
